Julie Newmar

Julie Newmar, the statuesque stunner with a sense of humor, is forever etched in the collective male libido as the definitive Catwoman. But before she stole Gotham City jewels and Adam West’s heart on the classic TV series Batman (1966-1967), Julie won a Tony for Best Featured Actress in the Broadway hit The Marriage-Go-Round (1958). The gorgeous ingenue also nabbed a Golden Globe nom for the sitcom My Living Doll (1964-1965). On the big screen, Julie bared her breasts and butt in the comedy Monsieur Lecoq (1967) and the Western Mackenna’s Gold (1969). Even though the sultry starlet isn’t naked in the fantastical rom-com The Seduction of a Nerd (1970), she sports a cleavage-enhancing (and boner-inducing) black bikini. Oh, to be a geek in 1970! Fifteen years later, the timeless hottie thrilled audiences’ members when she strutted her stuff in red-hot lingerie for the thriller Streetwalkin’ (1985). After lending her sexy presence to the suggestively-titled Nudity Required (1989), the irresistible icon popped up (as herself) in the Patrick Swayze/Wesley Snipes drag-queen flick To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (1995). She can also be seen in the George Michael music video Too Funky (1992), and heard in the animated features Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016) and Batman vs. Two-Face (2017), where Julie reprised her role as Catwoman 50 years after the original television series. Ms. Newmar also received patents for undergarments she created and promoted under the name “Nudemar”—proving this cat has more than one life and livelihood!
